The end of week 2 of marathon training

This week was useless.

I spent mon-thursday at OSU Medical Center (hospital) for un-explainable bleeding and pain, and was sent home without a diagnosis. My week was supposed to entail 3-5-3-5-9 = 25 sweet miles, but instead it involved 5-4.5-3 = 12.5 agonizing miles, with each run getting progressively worse then the last. I wasn't too upset about missing my 4 days, cause I thought I would at least be well rested from not doing anything on those days but lay around and get tests done. I had planned on doing 5-5-9 still getting in 19 miles for the week, which would have been great.

I hit the road on friday for my 5 and I had to walk! I know, its not bad to walk, Im not saying it is. But for ME it is, especially on an easy 5 miler. A 5 mile run should be a piece of cake for me, pushing about an 8:40. But I didnt. My time was decent, but I was so tired by the time I hit my 2.5 mile turn around I actually had to stop and walk. I was exhausted again by the time I got home.

I thought my Sat run would be better. We went to a park close to downtown and I knew the scenery would be great. So I mapped out my course and was excited to have a change of pace. It happened again. By the time I was about 1.5 miles in I was TIRED! I blamed it on the slight uphill I was doing, pushed it up another hill to my turn around and tried to embrace the slight downhill on the way back. I ran to my almost other turn around and decided to cut it short and not loop the park again to hit my 5 mile mark. I ended at the top of the park, and stopped. Only 4.4 miles logged, and about 15 seconds slower then my last run. My legs were so tired the rest of the day. Fail again. So I went to bed early, hoping getting over 8 hours of sleep would help.

Today was supposed to be my long run, 9 miles. I woke up early to temps of 12 degrees. After thinking long and hard about what I wanted to do, I decided to do tomorrows 3 mile run today, and do my 9 mile run tomorrow when I knew I could get it done mid day in 40 degree weather. After doing some work I hit the pavement again and was instantly fatigued. Not just tired, not sore, not like normal fatigued I am used to feeling here and then. But like my body was a big clump of lead that just wanted to lay down in the middle of the road. I fought every inch of my 3 miles, and came in at a whopping 9:25 min/mile. Over a minute/mile slower then my normal 3 mile time. Nice.

So I dont know what I am going to do tomorrow. I am going to run again, I know that for sure, but I am going to see how I feel. I am going to do a 5 mile course, and if I still have the energy I am going to try to make it in for the full 9. I might be sick, I dont feel sick, yet. I guess ill figure out in a few days if I am sick or not, or I may be dying. Im sure that is always another option. But for right now, Ill just keep running till I cant anymore.
