A grey day on the olentangy bike path

I went on a 4 mile run today, and busted out a 8:40 min/mile. I felt good and strong even though it was my 3rd run in a row, a 9 a 4.5 and a 4, which I am usually really tired at my 3rd day. But today was good and I am finally back to my old pace.

This pic is of the olentangy River. It has been very flooded the past couple of days and you can see how high it is in this picture. Notice it at the bottom of the trees in the back? Its normally feet below that. It rained for about a week last week, and then it poured all day yesterday and today.
The only bad thing about the flooding on the river is that the path is right next to it. This picture is the path, facing south, and the river is just to the side of the tree on the very right. Where the path turns left in the pic it does another right and goes over a bridge. A slippery bridge. (see the black line in the back? thats the bridge) This area gets really flooded when the river floods, and the runners have formed sort of a side path where you have to run through the field on the left to connect to the bridge. There are a lot of places like this on this path, so I usually avoid it after rainy days. There have been times where this entire field is covered in water, and then you have no choice but to tuff mudder it. But on the plus side, in the spring this entire field is covered in purple flowers and it is so pretty.

Despite the grey weather today, the path was buzzing. It had stopped raining about an hour before this and it was close to 60 degrees outside. It was very windy, but it almost felt like spring. I ran in a t-shirt and capri tights. I have ran this path more then any other area because I have always lived near it (my mom lives about .2 miles away from it on a street that connects straight to it) and I live 1.2 miles away from the path. It is like my 2nd home and I know every nook and cranny of it. Its mostly flat and has a great change of scenery throughout. It extends 20 miles one way, so it is great for short runs, long runs and bike rides. No matter what the weather is like, I always feel great when I run on this path. Well, almost always :)
